Notes: Founded by Trajan and named after his sister Marciana this city lay a few miles inland from Odessus and issued Greek imperial coins between the reigns of Commodus and Philip (Jr.). Tyche was seen as a goddess who guided the emperors and determined both their fate and that of the empire. The rudder is indicative of her guiding hand and the cornucopia of the prosperity she brings.
